Sara LoPiccolo
Grant Development Coordinator
Originally from Maryland, Sara moved to Lookout Mountain, Georgia to attend Covenant College, where she studied English. While in College, she served as the editor of multiple student publications, and also wrote copy for the Alumni Relations Office. These experiences fostered an interest in professional and academic writing, as well as research.
Feeling quite at home in Chattanooga after graduating from Covenant, Sara decided to stay in town for graduate school, and will graduate from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) with a Master of Arts in English: Rhetoric and Professional Writing in May of 2025. While completing experiential coursework and developing relationships with UTC’s English faculty, she realized that grant writing was the perfect way to practice her compositional skills while contributing to meaningful growth in Chattanooga’s nonprofit network. During her time at UTC, Sara has served as the Writing and Communication Center Graduate Assistant, where she assists with professional development, center research, and tutors students. In addition to her work as a student, Sara has worked on grants for local non-profit organizations here in Chattanooga as well as with the University of Virginia’s School of Medicine.
